Despite leading the company’s Made In USA program, Teddy Santis’ influence is visible all across New Balance. Case in point?: A 90/60 recently surfaced in a “Beef and Broccoli” color combination akin to options from Santis’ Aimé Leon Dore.
Previously seen on the New Balance 993 and 580, the brown and green arrangement seems right at home on the newer proposition from the North American institution. The retro-futurist design’s inherently flirts with the great outdoors given its aggressive sole unit, on particular when compared with the running-informed counterparts elsewhere under the “NB” banner. Hairy suede across the New Balance 90/60‘s upper takes on a “beef” makeup, while panels throughout the forefoot, mid-foot, and heel complement the muted tone in a deep green hue. Underfoot, the bulk of the sole unit opts for a pitch-black finish, although supporting accents take on the “broccoli” hue as a final nod to the beloved Timberland Field Boot deriving its nickname from a Chinese takeout dish.
No firm newbalance.com launch details have been disclosed yet, but that’s likely to change soon. In the meantime, enjoy official images of the pair ahead.
