The greatness of Michael Jordan wasn’t instantly recognized from birth. In fact, MJ didn’t even make the varsity squad at Laney High School, but being relegated to JV was responsible for fueling the smoldering GOAT flame. This unforgettable story has since been told through Michael Jordan’s footwear releases by way of the school’s signature colors of yellow and blue, and in 2023, it makes a ceremonious return on the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG.

Set to release in February as a women’s exclusive release, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Laney” sees a full leather upper construction, Touches of red on the tongue label and hang-tag offer an unforeseen contrast, as does the light-blue shade on the hang-tag.

If you recall, the story of “Laney” was already told on the Retro High OG back in 2013. In fact, it was one of the earliest AJ1s of the modern era with the Nike Air on the tongue.
