Old And New Coexist On The Mountain Research x Reebok LX2200

Mountain Research and Reebok may not have the track record that other collaborators in the sneaker space do, but both institutions have quickly developed a roster of compelling footwear for casual and savvy consumers alike.

Recently, the Japanese and North American brands unveiled the latest proposition in their growing line of joint-efforts: the Reebok LX2200 by Mountain Research. Inspired by a particular running model from 1985–the aptly-named LX8500–the upcoming release features a harmonious mix of old and new design cues, along with elevated materials for a modern interpretation in line with Mountain Research’s solo work. Full-grain leather takes over the upper, with a mostly-white color scheme claiming real estate across upper and sole unit. Burgundy contrast, however, keeps the proposition from being rather tonal; grey accents around the heel and via the outsole do the same.

“We’re so honored to offer LX2200 as the final installment of our collaborative series,” shared Setsumasa Kobayashi, designer for Mountain Research, in an official press release for the collaboration. “It perfectly defines our perception of Reebok – the classic running shoemaker.”
