Frank Cooker Shares An Unreleased Air Jordan 7 Inspired By Ken Griffey Jr.

As a former Jordan Brand NRG team member, Frank Cooker is sitting on a treasure trove of unreleased mock ups and tributes to the heritage residing within Jumpman’s archives. Every now and again, Cooker will take to Instagram to preview an exclusive pair that never made their way around to market, most recently giving us a first look at the unreleased Air Jordan 7 created in honor of Ken Griffey Jr’s participation in the 1992 Foot Locker Slam Fest – a dunk contest for professional athletes once removed from the hardwood including the likes of Deion Sanders and Barry Bonds.

Inspired by The Kid’s iconic “Swingman” line of silhouettes with The Swoosh – more specifically the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Fresh Water” – the aforementioned AJ 7 mirrors Griffey’s synonymous color scheme with the titular turquoise playing a dominant accenting role across the silhouette’s smooth nubuck overlays while a jet-black base sits underneath. White contrasts proffer throughout the laces and collar’s Jumpman insignia while crimson hues provide seldom touches along the forefoot’s embroidered Swoosh and pull tab. Holding just one marking denoting the Hall of Famer’s aesthetic, his Swingman logo’s red stripe surrounds the insoles Jumpman in conclusion.

While these will remain locked away in the theoretical vault, enjoy a never-before-seen look at the Air Jordan 7 “Ken Griffey Jr.” below.
