For the last few years Kyrie Irving has remained on a spiritual journey, uncovering and learning more about his families Native American roots. Visiting various reservations during his offseason and partaking in the ensuing tribes’ cultural practices and ceremonies, last year the seven-time All-Star visited and connected with the same tribe his late mother was apart of, South Dakota’s Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
After receiving our first look at the now-dubbed Kyrie 8 a few months ago via a private training session, official imagery of the pair in its annual “N7” edition have since released, paying tribute to the Standing Rock Tribe Irving is now an official member of after being welcomed by receiving a ceremonial star quilt at their administrative center.
For the wisdom of “Seven Generations”, the latest N7 proposition comes coated in a dominant use of Dark Olive as the upper shroud and mudguard meet with a lighter toned quarter overlay rendering a sliver of leather. The model’s mesh tongue construction and sock liner come additionally color-matched whereas the adjacently placed laces and midsole unit proffer a crisp white contrast. Disparate from past builds, the midfoot Swoosh is angled to match the sleek construction of the upper and comes treated in a dark maroon trim while its glossy filling extends a light jade tone. Above, the perforated collar panel and tongue tab bear light pistachio hues in conclusion while coming affixed with the name of Irving’s tribe spelled in Lakotan.
