The New Balance 990 series has been celebrating its 40th anniversary all year. Simultaneously, the New England institution has been honoring its presence in Flimby, Cumbria, U.K. with propositions like a newly-surfaced grey and navy NB991.
Premium pig suede reprises its traditional role across the upper, sitting atop breathable mesh and supple leather overlays. The aforementioned components indulge in a predominantly greyscale arrangement, although dark blue accents land on the top of the tongue, forefoot and underneath the collar. Underfoot, the sole unit opts for a standard off-white and white midsole, while the tried-and-proven ABZORB units across the sole unit bring some of the upper’s navy flair down below.
