Jared Ebanks Currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, April saw the SMILEY brand and Reebok team up for a Classic Leather Pump that honored the insignia’s realization in 1944 by French newspaper, France Soir. With the NBA season mere days away, the Boston-based brand is tapping the Shaq Attaq for its latest collaboration fit with gleaming faces after the silhouette returned from hiatus with its OG “Matte Blue” offering last month.
Pastels influence the Hall of Famer’s silhouette heavily with its shaggy suede midfoot and ankle panels rendering pistachio green and tan hues respectively, while the surrounding smooth suede collar construction that wraps along the heel counter proffers baby blue. The final muted shade bears the rubber eye stays and tip of the tongues pull tab in a faded pink accompanied by a yellow and black smiley face pump button. Providing dark contrasts throughout, the toe cap, midfoot overlays, mesh tongue and laces are anchored by a dominant jet-black tone adorned with both brands logos while underfoot a cream, black and tan sole unit concludes the model.
