The New Balance 327 “Made In Japan” Is Crafted With High Quality Tochigi Leather

In terms of quality and build, New Balance is leagues above, as they continue to produce a wide range of models in both the USA as well as the UK. And thanks to their Japanese outpost, the brand has raised the bar to even taller heights, previously shining classics like the 1300 through the country’s lauded craftsmanship. For 2022, they’re now taking the same approach with the 327, bringing the silhouette up to a much higher standard.

M. Lab, the atelier responsible for creating the M1300JPJ in 2020, is back at the helm for this 327. For the shoe’s construction, they’ve selected the finest Tochigi leather, which has been produced in Japan since the late 1930s. The material, whose surface should develop a unique patina over time, is used for almost every fixture, from the base itself to the oversized “N” logo. A “MADE IN JAPAN” label is then affixed to the tongue, complementing the lighter finish of the adjacent laces and midsole.
