NIKE, Inc. has been publicly supporting the Black community in a concerted effort since the first half of 2020. In addition to scholarships, design initiatives and more, the Oregon-based conglomerate has launched “Yardrunners,” a program that highlights 16 students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. As part of the campaign, special pairs of the Nike Dunk Low have been dedicated to these educational institutions. The latest?: North Carolina A&T.
Rooted in Aggies history, the latest take on Peter Moore’s 37-year-old design features signature white and grey tones alongside vibrant “Aggie Blue” and gold accents. “AYANTEE,” a call-out to the agricultural and technical university’s yearbook, is stamped on the sneaker’s laces, while the upper heel nods to the school’s founding in 1891. NCAT’s emblem replaces “NIKE”-branding on the top of the tongue, further cementing the Nike Dunk offering as a special release; the label’s underside reads “FROM GREENSBORO WITH LOVE.” Lastly, the Air Jordan 1-reminiscent sole unit underfoot opts for a simple midsole that allows for the semi-translucent outsole to steal the spotlight.
No firm Nike.com launch details have been disclosed by the brand, but that’s likely to change soon. In the meantime, enjoy official images of the pair ahead in Grade School sizing.
