The past two years has seen Nike Running‘s products explode in popularity, as more and more people have come to appreciate the outdoors and exercise like never before. Ahead of Fall 2022, the sub-label has unveiled the Pegasus Trail 4 GORE-TEX, the latest in its propositions for “off-the-beaten-path” traversing.
Despite unmistakably belonging to the beloved Nike Pegasus line, the newly-surfaced offering deviates from the low-cut trim that’s graced past iterations geared towards inclement weather and rough terrain. The taller collar is likely a result of user feedback and complements the GORE-TEX lining well as combined, the two design choices create a resistant and protective ride unlike standard versions of series. Nike React foam makes up the entirety of the midsole, with an encapsulated Zoom Air unit not reprising its role at the forefoot (as it does on the Nike Zoom Pegasus 39). Underfoot, aggressive rubber lugs ensure responsive and durable traction.
Runner-informed data gathered from past trail-ready options helped develop a sturdy, lightweight and breathable engineered mesh for the Pegasus Trail 4 GORE-TEX. Rubber detailing covers the toe to provide abrasion resistance; extra “skins” throughout the toe box also improve durability from past releases. Lastly, weather-proof Flywire components along the profiles enable a more secure fit, allowing wearers to worry about one less thing as they go about their days.
