NIKE, Inc. no longer goes by “Blue Ribbon Sports,” but that hasn’t stopped the Oregon-based conglomerate from referencing its original name across footwear, apparel and campaigns. The latest homage to the running retailer’s past is the Nike BRSB, a skate-ready shoe modeled after some of the Swoosh’s earliest running sneakers.
Reminiscent of the Nike Cortez, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, the recently-surfaced pair delivers a sleek proposition for skaters of all levels. Durable suede takes over much of the forefoot, with supple leather making up the rear-half of the shoe’s upper. Foam is visible at the midsole, while the outsole opts for an aggressive arrangement that updates old school tooling for the modern age. With the BRSB, Nike SB got it right.
Enjoy official images of the pair ahead, and anticipate a Nike.com launch soon.
