Despite not belonging to the historically-important 990 series, the New Balance 2002R has been carving out a space for itself within the company’s expansive lineup since re-entering the brand’s plans in late 2020.

Ahead of fall, the once-abandoned lifestyle proposition emerged in a straightforward ensemble featuring “Plum” across its mesh, premium pig suede and leather upper construction. While much more in-line with the rest of New Balance‘s product than the “Refined Future” collection’s offerings, the latest option’s compelling color would lend itself well to the aforementioned capsule. Underfoot, the 860v2 cushioning solution compliments the upper well given its slightly-“aged” aesthetic, satisfying current consumer trends.
