In continuing the 30th Anniversary of the Air Jordan 7, Jordan Brand has joined forces with Bephie’s Beauty Supply of Los Angeles, a beauty supply owned by Beth “Bephie Gibbs” — wife of Union LA founder Chris Gibbs.
It’s clear that the imagination runs rampant within the Gibbs household, because this Air Jordan 7 is truly unlike any AJ7 release of the past. In fact, it’s a rather thoughtful extension of Tinker Hatfield’s original Huarache-inspired design as the interior neoprene bootie is fitted with a mesh shroud that extends up above the ankle, with a cuff closed by an elastic cord. There’s a protective element to this redesign as it sees the Air Jordan 7 exterior as a hiking-style shell, painted with a Sanddrift colorway and paired with Malt, Turf Orange, and Peach Cream. The Jumpman logo is projected onto the inner mesh, while a forefoot Swoosh logo appears just under the quarter mudguard.
Finally, Bephie’s shop logo is proudly emblazoned onto the heel, replacing the arrowhead piece seen on traditional AJ7 issues. Our favorite touch is the added toe-cap, with extended embroidery that falls from the lace collar to the toe-box.
Currently, a release date is expected for August 25th, but stay tuned for an official announcement from Jordan Brand.
Updated August 11th, 2022: The Bephie’s Beauty Supply website currently has a countdown clock ahead of the August 25th release date.
