For the occasion, he and his NIKE, Inc. family have prepped the Jordan Zion 2 signature sneaker, which arrives in a “Hope Diamond” colorway on Thursday, June 30th.
Inspired by the 21-year-old’s goal of winning at the next level of his career, the upcoming colorway indulges in a “White,” “Half Blue,” “Deep Royal Blue” and “Pink Prime” mix of colors that make a statement on the court. Technologically-wise, Williamson’s second signature model from Brand Jordan features a reworked Zoom Air strobel unit that decouples the full-length component in order to achieve a smoother landing on the heel following an explosive play from the New Orleans Pelican; the update also enables 20% more Zoom Air the the forefoot for improved responsiveness. Additionally, the performance cup sole and strap across the vamp helps contain Zion Williamson’s foot in place, delivering optimal support to one of the most awe-inspiring athletes currently gracing the hardwood.
On the aesthetic front, the sneaker indulges in design cues from 1980s and ’90s hoops footwear, while “ZW” logos from the Jordan Zion 1 are slightly modified. Self-affirming messages land throughout the Zion 2, reminding the young player that “Nobody built like you, you design yourself” and to “win” (included in Morse code on the outsole).
