The New Balance 2002R has quickly become one of the century-old brand’s most exciting silhouettes. Recently, multi-hyphenate creative Bryant Giles reworked the silhouette’s mule version.
Lightweight canvas takes over the majority of the pair’s upper, with some stretchable and breathable mesh landing at the tongue. This component’s breathability, however, pales in comparison to that offered by the lack of heel area. Giles covers the light cream-colored New Balance with multi-colored illustrations, with various faces and facial expressions covering the profiles. Underfoot, the 2002R’s sole unit (which is really the 860v2’s setup) abandons any and all hand-drawn graphics, boasting a clean off-white arrangement that makes a perfect summertime option.

Elsewhere, the Boston-based brand is set to debut the New Balance 990v6 before 2022 ends.
