2022 will see the 35th Anniversary celebration of a several revolutionary designs from Tinker Hatfield’s portfolio of designs. While we’re prepared to see a year’s worth of Air Max 1 releases hit the store shelves (with an Air Max Day Air Max 1 already confirmed), another “1” from 1987 will be making plenty of noise alongside it. That would be the Air Trainer 1, a cross-trainer silhouette popularized by tennis legend John McEnroe and arguably the most recognizable model from the era of multi-sport trainer footwear.
We’ve already seen Nike dress up the Air Trainer 1 with buckles and tribal patterns, while Travis Scott and Nike already had a few prepared for the year before the tragic events in Houston. There’s no doubt that original colorways like the Chlorophyll will be available, but so is the lesser known grey-on-grey that was featured on the Air Trainer 1 Low of ’87. This Photon Dust/Light Smoke Grey combination is one of several we expect to release in 2022, so stay tuned for a slew of more colorways to surface.
