Nike Takes A More Reserved Approach To Overbranding With This Upcoming Air Force 1

Nike Takes A More Reserved Approach To Overbranding With This Upcoming Air Force 1

For a brief period of time a couple years ago, every big name in sneakers was overbranding in all sorts of ways. Nike, compared to the rest, was the biggest offender, as quite a few GRs hit the shelves wearing no small supply of Swooshes. They’ve fortunately toned things down as of late, which is most evident in their latest approach to the design concept.

In honor of its 40th anniversary, the Air Force 1 has been chosen as the canvas, its construction kept mostly true to original spec. Leathers of both a smooth and slightly tumbled variety build out the shoe, clad in white much like the laces, tongue, and lining. The Swoosh and heel tab, by comparison, are not quite as plain, each opting for a pink suede that’s then overlaid with repeating but cut-off text. And while it may not bring any additional logos, the midsole is also worth noting for its jarring see-through finish.

Enjoy a closer up look at this upcoming Air Force 1 right here, and sit tight for word on its upcoming Nike.com and select retailers release.
