WTAPS Draws From Classic Militaria For Their Newest Vault By Vans Collaboration

WTAPS Draws From Classic Militaria For Their Newest Vault By Vans Collaboration

Founded by Tetsu Nishiyama, WTAPS has offered “uparmored” militaria for over 25 years; and within that time, they’ve collaborated with a number of key players in sneakers, including New Balance and, of course, Vault by Vans. After a near year-long hiatus, the latter is rejoining the Japanese label, providing them the OG SK8-HI LX and the OG Authentic LX for their latest collaboration.

The two silhouettes, in their respective forms, build off the same idea. In both color and material, their designs mirror existing militaria, gear that has always been a huge source of inspiration for WTAPS. As such, the canvas and suedes are finished in an Olive Drab, matching everything from the BDU to the oft-lauded OG 107. And below, the midsole, too, is dressed in a deep green shade, while its overlaid text — which makes use of the signature GPS motif and “WTAPS” name — opts for a dark black neutral.

For a closer look at both the SK8-HI and Authentic, check out the official imagery below. Currently, both pairs are slated to hit select Japanese retailers on February 11th; a US release has not been confirmed.
