DTLR has established a breadth of storytelling through its New Balance collaborations, connecting its audience to domestic traditions of American Muscle Cars to the mythological tales of Perseus and Medusa. For its next project, they’ve focused their acumen on the New Balance 2002R, the modernized runner that splashed back onto the scene in mid-2020.
Presenting the “Masquerade” concept, DTLR presents a contrast of the ordinary and the extraordinary, reiterating New Balance’s championing of the “norm-core” look while adding some vivacious color-blocking of their own. Against a black and grey suede base, DTLR applies hits of blues, orange, and pink, with purple for a punchy distinction of hues. An added touch that sneaker fanatics will appreciate is the use of classic 992 shoelaces, while the double-stitch slanted-N logo with a reflective underlay harkens back to the silhouette’s roots in performance running.
DTLR will drop these exclusively on February 11th, 2022 for $155, with sizing ranging from 7.5 to 15. See the official lookbook images ahead.
