Since debuting in the 1970s, the Nike Blazer Mid has accomplished a lot both on the hardwood and away from it. In the last five years, the mid-top silhouette has become a go-to option among fashion-goers given its versatility and budget-friendly price. For its latest proposition, the first-ever Nike Basketball sneaker has emerged with one of the wildest attachments to ever grace a shoe: a detachable voodoo doll.
There’s no telling what members of the design team responsible for the latest Nike Blazer were going through at the time of creation, but what’s certain is that the newly-surfaced pair makes a statement. A plethora of materials are “frankensteined” together across the sneaker’s upper, with haphazard stitching holding every panel and swath in place. Shades of white cover most of the top-half, while sole units opt for a fan-favorite light gum brown makeup. The star of the shoe, however, is the “NIKE”-shaped doll that attaches to the buttons placed on the lateral collar. “LOVE” text replaces standard Swoosh-related branding on the spine, which raises questions on whether or not this offering has been prepped for Valentine’s Day.
No official Nike.com release date has been disclosed by the brand, but that’s likely to change in the coming months. In the meantime, enjoy images of the pair below, and start thinking about your curse victim – we mean the person you’d like to gift these to out of pure kindness.
