Despite retiring from the NBA in April 2003, Michael Jordan continues to impact the game of basketball. Over the last 18 years, the Chicago Bulls-legend has expanded his reach beyond the hardwood, spreading his winning spirit across the realms of baseball, football, golf and other highly-competitive sports with the help of a roster of athletes that’s included Derek Jeter, Randy Moss and Keegan Bradley. Recently, special editions of the Air Jordan 6 were unveiled by the NIKE, Inc. subsidiary to celebrate the talented individuals who’ve helped develop the Jumpman’s legacy.
Housed in a high-quality wooden box complimented by golden hardware, the three Player-Exclusive (PE) colorways present luxurious takes on the sneaker in which #23 won his first NBA title. Premium nubuck construction across each pair’s upper indulges in either a grayish-navy, emerald green or magenta-like purple that haven’t been seen much across the Air Jordan line. In addition to their supporting tones, the exclusive styles are accented by shimmering golden details that further promote a sense of luxury. Special graphics and a Greek alphabet-inspired lettering system also appear on the Jordans, denoting the specific sport their respective owners play. It’s highly-unlikely that Luka Dončić, Zion Williamson or Jayson Tatum – who’s reportedly “up-next” in Jordan Brand’s plans for a signature sneaker – will lace up the kicks for a game, but the PEs might appear as part of a tunnel ‘fit. What’s certain, however, is that every athlete that’s been gifted a pair has put in countless amounts of effort to be associated with one of the greatest athletes ever.
