Unveiled to the masses on Instagram by UNION Los Angeles’ Chris Gibbs, the fourth and final installment of the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Wave” collection sees a global launch following a release on Friday, December 10th, via the Dutch brand’s outposts.
Effectively the fourth “wave” in the latest joint-venture from the storied partnership, the upcoming sneakers feature “Black” synthetic leather overlays atop a “Metallic Silver” mesh base. In comparison, “Monarch” and “Noise Aqua” propositions donned high-quality suede panels aligned with what appeared on Tinker Hatfield’s original 1987-design; the “Rush Maroon” option that dropped on November 26th also favored a more durable leather build. As has been the case with dozens of other sneakers to surface throughout 2021, Patta’s next Air Max collaboration boasts a slightly-yellowed midsole (courtesy of the “Coconut Milk” tone), which taps into the growing consumer interest in “Neo-vintage” footwear. For the folks over at the Amsterdam-based imprint, however, love for the the first running sneaker with a visible Air unit isn’t a new development – it spans decades. Furthermore, the latest “Wave” offering is more than just a sneaker, representing the cycle of “living to survive” that’s been broken by the children of Surinamese immigrants who found refuge in Netherlands.
