Although Nike Basketball’s newest propositions take direct inspiration from modern-day sportswear, it’s always looking to its archive for both design cues and nostalgic purposes. According to reliable sources, the hoops-focused team will revisit the Nike Air Max Penny 1 throughout 2022.
Designed by Eric Avar, who’s spearheaded some of the category’s most impressive footwear of the last 30 years, the sneaker dominated hardwood courts everywhere thanks to its performance benefits and Anfernee Deon “Penny” Hardaway co-sign. Seen throughout the 2000s and 2010s, the predominantly black colorway is set to return next year (perhaps in remastered form), while the white “Home” style is seemingly embarking on its first retro run ever. Both options indulge in a rich royal blue hue that paired well with the Magic’s uniforms in 1995, as well as the now-iconic Air Penny branding.
