The Air Jordan 1 Low Gets A Platform Sole For Women

The Air Jordan 1 Low Gets A Platform Sole For Women

Designed by Peter Moore in 1985, the Air Jordan 1 Low has accomplished quite a bit over the last 36 years. Yet, recent developments have demonstrated that the lifestyle-oriented sneaker has more offerings in the tuck, as a women’s-exclusive platform design has emerged.

Clad in the model’s inaugural “Black/University Red/White” colorway, the pair is unquestionably “fashion first.” The upper’s arrangement maintains a near-identical layout and build to Michael Jordan’s original signature sneaker (as well as the similar Nike Dunk Low), but quarter panels and heel overlays deviate ever-so-slightly. Additional stitching and a lack of branding on these components, however, are overshadowed by the exaggerated sole unit underfoot. Akin to various Nike Sportswear classics modified for women to surfaced over the last five years, the platformed-Air Jordan 1-variant features a chunky sculpted midsole; a Jumpman-branded rubber accent adds function and style to the heel. Lastly, tread is reimagined with a different pattern, as performance-related traction isn’t as important on the bold silhouette.
