Although the Air Jordan 1 Mid will likely never trump its taller counterpart in cachet, the silhouette has gained previously-unfathomable respect from savvy sneaker over the last two years. A consistent release cycle and compelling colorways have been responsible.
For its latest proposition, the lifestyle-focused trim has indulged in a “Light Orewood Brown/Newsprint/Bright Crimson” palette reminiscent of Air Jordan heritage, while delivering a refreshing style. Grid-patterned nylon bases (which may be a bit questionable for the impending fall and winter) boast the most subtle tone of the bunch, landing at the toe box and across mid-foot panels à la “Black Toe” fashion; “Newsprint”-colored leather panels help complete the nod to one of the Air Jordan 1‘s original looks, appearing around the forefoot, at the quarter panel and along the tongue. A vibrant crimson hue enters the mix via the tongue label, ankle flaps and lower heel overlay, creating an ensemble that’s sure to have some former-naysayers purchase their first mid-top AJ 1. Underfoot, sole units are left to a “yin-and-yang”-appropriate makeup.
