An institution in the military garb space, Alpha Industries has recently unveiled its first-ever collaboration with New Balance.
As expected, the Knoxville, Tenn.-founded company has applied a military green color scheme to the collection’s New Balance 574 and accompanying apparel. At a quick glance, the aforementioned sneaker doesn’t deviate too much from its inaugural styling from 1988. Closer inspection, however, reveals not only that the premium pig suede upper indulges in a muted green, but also that the base layer is constructed from sturdier CORDURA fabric. Detachable profile “N” logos proffer a touch of playfulness as well as a call-back to the patches found on flight jackets and other functional garb. Detailing on the tongue, upper heel and midsole boast a slightly-yellowed makeup that complements the surroundings well, while delivering a “vintage” aesthetic. Alpha Industries’ signature “REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT” hangtag is joined by a “new balance”-branded one; the former’s insignia is stamped onto the lateral heel.

An in-store launch will take place at select shops in Hong Kong and Macau come September 17th. Pricing for the items range between $55 USD and $195 USD, with the 574 arriving at approximately $115 USD.
