The DTLR x New Balance 992 “Varsity” Releases On Labor Day Weekend

With September just around the corner, school is in session and varsity sports will commence once again. In celebration of America’s love for sports and its unifying power across all ages, DTLR and New Balance partner up for the New Balance 992 “Varsity”—a new arrangement that features collegiate-inspired details and US insignia.

The collaborative style sees a grey and blue suede construction for a premium look and feel. Red overlays near the collar allude to the letterman jackets associated with varsity sports. Reflective materials applied to the “N” logos and the heel tab further amp up the style’s luxe factor while still maintaining a sporty aesthetic. The design is topped off with a special US flag logo derived from the NB archives to emphasize the importance of sports in American culture—where values such as teamwork and perseverance are instilled.
