The Nike ISPA design expression has thoroughly reshaped how we view modern lifestyle footwear. While we will always treasure the leathers and suedes that make up the iconic Nike Sportswear models of the 70s, 80, and 90s, ISPA has compelled consumers to think outside the box and envision footwear beyond the scope simple comfort and into the realm of sustainable and circular design. The ISPA Drifter adds that tabi-toe aesthetic that has been a staple of Japanese footwear as well as the world of high-fashion, while the upper concentrates on a reductive approach to reduce weight and materials for a comfortable and eco-friendly result.
Just a year after the Drifter’s debut, Nike Japan is prepared to offer the polarizing silhouette in a highly limited affair; each pair is indigo dyed by hand by BUAISOU in Tokushima Prefecture, a brand world-renowned for their dye techniques. Each pair features a hangtag with its own unique serial number (presumably noting the date of the dye). And given that each pair is treated individually, each pair will indeed be distinct from one another.
Currently, Nike SNKRS Japan has a release date marked for August 31st local time. See the official images below and stay tuned for the release. Retail price is set at ¥ 60,500, which is roughly $550.
