When it comes to fashion collaborations, adidas Y-3 stands out as a high-fashion-meets-sportswear sub-label that fuses adidas’s athletics-geared DNA with Yohji Yamamoto‘s signature minimalist Japanese street style. The crossover continues with adidas Y-3 delivering the adidas Y-3 Kaiwa in a neon “Semi Frozen Yellow.”
Although this neon green and beige offering strays from Yamamoto’s usual greyscale color palette, the new arrangement still retains a sleek, futuristic look. “Semi Frozen Yellow” woven textile crafts the entirety of the upper and is held together by a variety of curved stitches for a layered look. More layering occurs as beige suede and leather elements are applied to the lacestays and heel for a more toned-down, wearable look. The aforementioned beige also tints the avant-garde midsole blocks, creating a futuristic silhouette. A cream midsole with Y-3 branding underfoot rounds out the collaborative design.
