New Balance Applies A Worn Painter’s Look To The 57/40

Distressing has been all the rage for some time. Jeans, light-washed and aged to heavy degrees, are often desirable for their rips and tears as well as the fades left behind by decades of wear. And this love for the used has extended even to footwear, many allured by the dirtied but brand new offerings of Golden Goose. Soon, you won’t just be limited to the Italian brand as New Balance is following suit with this 57/40.

Paint seems to be the star of the show. Along the oversized “N” logo as well as the laces, speckles of red and yellow splatter at random, providing the navy and white backdrops a touch of character. Elsewhere, the white leathers are also not anywhere near pristine. While the solid coat is still visible along every panel and the midsole, each is scratched and worn throughout, leaving brown markings all across the shoe.
