Since being reintroduced at the tail-end of 2020, the Nike Air Max 96 II has displayed a penchant for the tried-and-proven. Its last few colorways, however, have deviated from the palettes of its inaugural run in 1996, boasting, instead, a bevy of new styles that highlight the silhouette’s widely-forgotten design.
Created as a running sneaker, the 25-year-old model has found new life among enthusiasts of the unshakeable “dad shoe” trend. Its chunky midsole and busy upper arrangement scream “1990s,” while hits of “Mystic Teal,” “Comet Red” and others have harkened back to the Swoosh’s deliberate indulgence in vibrancy. For its latest ensemble, the Air Max proposition boasts a predominantly white makeup that gets interrupted by a light purple mesh base and Airbags, as well as shades of faint yellow across branding. Together, each hue blends heritage and modern-day flair perfectly.
