Though an avid runner, Jun Takahashi has never been known to hoop. However, as the Tokyo Olympics begins to commence, the designer seems to be picking up the sport, erecting the fictional “UNDERCOVER BASKETBALL ASSOCATION” alongside a collaborative Dunk High 1985.
Teased throughout the Japanese label’s recent Fall/Winter showing, the model celebrates the Dunk’s origins, borrowing a design physically reminiscent of older 1985 pairs. Evident along the thinner, more tapered collar and toe shape, the retro blueprint is easily brought to life in a fashion similar to the Air Jordan 1 ’85 that debuted over a year ago. Then, over top this framework, UNDERCOVER provides their signature motifs, branding with their own logo on one side and the the UBA’s the other. Speckled soles also dress the midsole below, while the upper strings together heritage basketball colors of black and red in smooth and pebbled leather, respectively.

In other news, a new Volt AMBUSH Dunk High is also on the way.
