Jovani Hernandez Before adidas boasted collaborators the likes of Kanye West and Beyoncé, it was blending sportswear with eccentric high-fashion via its partnership with Jeremy Scott. On June 2nd, both parties announced that they’d be revisiting their defining relationship of the late 2000s and early 2010s. And while a previously-surfaced batch of Forum Hi pairs teased some of what to expect from the renewed partnership, a newly-emerged adilette Slide has brought back Scott’s iconic teddy bear.
Aptly named the “JS Bear,” the plush stuffed animal appeared on made-for-basketball adidas Originals silhouettes during the American designer’s first tenure with the German brand. And while promotional material for the two parties’ upcoming capsule has suggested the teddy bear will reprise its role on Three Stripes designs for the hardwood, the soft protagonist will also cover new grounds, beginning with the brand’s iconic slip-on slide. More of an add-on than an excuse to redesign the sandal, a “JS Bear” head sits comfortably atop a shaggy forefoot strap. Scott’s famous cast member dons a vibrant shade of orange and a subtler hit of yellow; the slide’s remaining real estate opts for a bolder shade of yellow to match the statement-making of the aforementioned plushie.
