Throughout 2020, adidas unofficially unveiled handfuls of footwear and apparel replete with Tokyo Olympics-related graphics and color palettes. Ahead of the global event’s delayed start of July 23rd, the German sportswear conglomerate has revealed more products prepped for the Japan-held competition. Among them, an adidas Harden Vol. 5 and N3XT L3V3L Futurenatural clad in “Cloud White/Core Black/Solar Red.”
Both silhouettes feature Futurenatural technology, which was developed with the purpose of enabling free movement on the basketball court. To achieve this, the innovation team at adidas developed a one-piece mold that delivers an anatomically-accurate representation of the average athlete’s foot, a feat (pun intended) that took years of data collecting. The mold is then seamlessly forged onto the mixed-materials upper – clad in shades of “Cloud White” on the forthcoming options – via high pressure and heat. Hits of contrasting “Core Black” and “Solar Red” appear across James Harden‘s signature sneaker and the follow-up to a model once worn by Trae Young, but the “Tokyo”-themed duo maintains a predominantly “colorless” ensemble, perhaps as a nod to Japan’s flag. Encapsulated BOOST and LIGHTSTRIKE-cushioning offer energy return and responsiveness, which will be needed if going for gold.

Elsewhere under the world of the Three Stripes, an M&M’s Forum Low collection is on the way.
