Since early spring, Nike has been unveiling a garden of plant-themed, eco-conscious footwear that alludes to botany textbooks and incorporates recycled materials. The Nike Air Max 97, for instance, has been previewed to rep the cork plant in “Coconut Milk” and “Obsidian” colorways. Cork vibes prevail on an upcoming AM 97 arrangement but in a rather vibrant coral makeup.
Unlike the aforementioned styles, a single color dominates the recycled canvas upper on this pair. Even the signature wavy overlays and the overlay above the midsole exhibit the peachy coral shade. To offset the bright hue, white is applied to the inside, midsole, and embroidered Swooshes on the sides and the tongue. An embroidered cork plant is emblazoned down the tongue and features textbook-styled text that reads “Fig 6. Cork.” The plant theme continues with one of the wavy overlays and the outsole comprising cork materials for an organic look that directly derives from nature itself.
