JSP’s (Jimmy Sweatpants) Jimmy Gorecki and Vans have revisited their partnership for another ode to Philadelphia skateboarding. Akin to his first joint-effort from February, Gorecki has reworked the Vans Chukka 79 VLT LX with the help of the California institution’s Vault by Vans division.
Unlike his previous takes on the Chukka Boot, Gorecki’s “Roses Grown in Granite” collaboration with the “OFF THE WALL” brand indulges in vibrant shades of pink instead of understated off-white and black. Premium, soft suede covers the entirety of the pair’s upper, which also features metallic eye-stays. Sole units forgo the tonal makeup in favor of a mix of finishes and tones: reinforcement around the forefoot indulges in a yellowed opaque finish, while the majority of the midsole boasts a “Race Pink” checkerboard pattern. Custom detailing by Joe Lees atop Vans’ iconic motif nod to Philly in both style and content, as it references “JSP,” “215” (area code) and “LOVE,” the most latter word commemorating the city blocks at 15th Street and JFK Boulevard.
The Chukka 79 “Roses Grown in Granite” releases on May 12th exclusively via jimmysweatpants.com.
