Despite growing criticism from sneaker enthusiasts about the adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 no longer being exciting, the silhouette has sold out every time it’s released. Within the first four months of 2021, the BOOST-cushioned silhouette hasn’t fallen to obscurity as some spectators have surely hoped, but it’s extended an olive branch of sorts with the handful of experimental takes it seemingly has in the works. From UV light-responsive detailing to new, translucent materials, Kanye West’s most ubiquitous sneaker has arguably acknowledged that it’s become a little stale, with a newly-surfaced “MX Rock” being the latest attempt at breathing new life into itself.
Anticipated to launch in September, the forthcoming pair draws resemblance to the recent Yeezy Foam Runner “MXT Moon Grey”. Primeknit construction across the upper indulges in a black aesthetic, but a paint spill-reminiscent pattern in brown and grey deliver character to the dark base. Striping most prominent on the lateral side maintain a solid black makeup, allowing its surroundings to revel in the spotlight, which they would’ve naturally done given their first appearance on a Yeezy model. Staying on-theme with the “MX Rock” arrangement, ribbed midsoles maintain their signature opaque finish, boasting a deep brown style that also takes over the laces and inner lining. Pull tabs at the heel are omitted, as is the contrasting outsole accent directly underneath them (at least according to first images of the new Yeezys). Lastly, exposed BOOST surely keeps its standard white look.
A firm release date hasn’t been disclosed yet, but the Yeezy 350 “MX Rock” is set to be part of Mr. West’s Fall 2021 lineup. While you wait for more details, enjoy images of the pair here below.
