With an arrangement dedicated to International Women’s Day and collaboration with Candy Land on the way, the Reebok Kamikaze II—in both its high-top and low-top glories—has been receiving some decent attention this month. The 1996 model continues to ride the momentum with the release of a Kamikaze II Low in a striking, new “Alert Yellow/Black/Spacer Grey” colorway.
Soft synthetic nubuck uppers in Spacer Grey are immediately contrasted by the raised black zigzag overlays. While these leather elements already demonstrate an aggressive look, the offering kicks it up a notch with Alert Yellow contrast stitching. The bold shade also dresses the tongue and bottom half of the model. The use of this raincoat-like yellow could be a clever allusion to the “Reign Man,” precisely Shawn Kemp, who was the first to wear the Kamikaze II. A lightweight EVA midsole and unique Hexalite hexagonal cushioning create a comfy sole unit to complete the design.
The low-top silhouette is now available at Reebok Portugal. Sneakerheads elsewhere will have to wait around for more information on a drop at Reebok.com.
