Korea’s thisisneverthat spent the better part of 2019 and 2020 working with New Balance, offering up lifestyle heroes like the 997, the 827, and the 2002R. For 2021, the streetwear label is making a stark shift towards performance, linking up with HOKA ONE ONE to borrow their expertise, technology, and signature blues.
“Before working with HOKA, thisisneverthat had never developed true performance products,” stated Jinwoo Park, the brand’s Designer of Special Projects. “The collaboration combines thisisneverthat’s unique aesthetic vision with two of HOKA’s defining features: its technical prowess and its signature blue color.”
The Speedgoat 4 serves as the introduction to the line-up, its colorway a limited-edition make designed by the thisisneverthat team. Maximal cushioning and unique geometry outfit the oversized tooling, proffering the innovative on-foot experience HOKA is well-known for. Underfoot, multi-directional lugs and meticulously cut grooves dress the Vibram MegaGrip outsole, while the upper opts for a synthetic and mesh build that’s clad in all-white and bright blue logo hits. This penchant for HOKA’s signature cool tone is carried throughout the apparel as well, marking the fronts of graphic tees, wind-resistant pullovers, performance shorts, and more.
