Although much attention has been paid to Nike Running’s work with Eliud Kipchoge and on the Alphafly NEXT% over the past two years, the imprint hasn’t forgotten about trail-ready options. Case in point: The new Wildhorse 7.
Akin to its immediate predecessor, the forthcoming model abandons the sleek shape of the original Nike Wildhorse in favor of a robust (and aggressive) build. The upper maintains a breathable construction, but its new layout enables improve ventilation without sacrificing durability. Synthetic reinforcement around the forefoot and along the laces further address some of the areas of improvements found on the Wildhorse 6. Overall, the latest silhouette’s upper gains some heftiness to it, evident in the lack of angle from toe tip to top of the tongue.
Underfoot, Nike React cushioning helps deliver a comfortable smooth ride, which pairs well with the neutral pronation inherent to the trail-runner’s design. The multi-directional grip throughout the outsole, which partially resembles the ACG Mountain Fly‘s, offers abrasion-resistant rubber for resilience in the outdoors.
