As the first month of the new year comes to an end, NIKE, Inc. and New Balance dominated the week’s sneaker-related headlines.
COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS unveiled a Nike Air Foamposite One collaboration during its Autumn/Winter ’21 virtual fashion show. While the model’s reworked upper may eventually make it to general releases, fans of the shoes will undoubtedly have to shell out a premium for the pair–possibly around $600 USD. sacai‘s next collaborative propositions also surfaced, with the VaporWaffle “Dark Iris” clad in a Halloween-friendly palette. On the solo-front, the Swoosh revealed almost a dozen colorways of the Air Force 1, which is currently in its 39th year. Simple tonal takes joined experimental iterations to deliver a variety for all types of tastes. Images of the original Air Tuned Max were welcomed by enthusiasts whose pairs from 1999 are unwearable.
Brand Jordan shared official looks at some of the Air Jordan 1 options set to launch throughout 2021. Trophy Room’s story-driven collaboration has been reported as limited to just 12,000 pairs, but note-worthy consolation options emerged throughout the week. Although the original Air Jordan sneaker still reigns supreme, models like the Jordan 5 and Jordan 35 drew some attention for their eye-catching colorways.
Casablanca helped introduce the New Balance XC-72 and New Balance 237, proving yet again that the success of its first collaboration with the brand was not a fluke. The new models don a sportier look than some of the brand’s most recognizable designs, and pair it with the elegance Charaf Tajer has channeled in his label. Junya Watanabe and COMME des GARÇONS HOMME also joined the mix with their own collaborations. Elsewhere, adidas revealed the T-MAC 2.0 EVO in more colorways set to launch before mid-February.
