Salehe Bembury Teases A “Water” Theme On Next New Balance 2002R

Salehe Bembury has raised countless eyebrows throughout his footwear designing career. He’s done so with the Versace line he overseas, as well as with collaborative projects with ANTA and New Balance. While the full scope of the American designer’s 2021 has yet to unfold, it’ll at least include another New Balance 2002R.

A follow-up to Bembury’s Antelope Canyon-colored “Peace Be The Journey” collaboration from 2020, which effectively introduced the modernized silhouette, the recently-teased pair features a turquoise and bright green palette inspired by water. As with the designer’s first joint-effort with the Boston-based brand, the latest runner has been previewed on social media, with only the model’s maze-like heel detailing depicted. The aquatic color scheme ostensibly suggests a springtime release, but Bembury may treat enthusiasts with an earlier launch. Regardless, what’s certain is that the 35-year-old will deliver a worthwhile product, as he demonstrated with the upcoming pair’s predecessor.

Enjoy the first teaser image of Bembury’s next 2002R, as you wait for more release details to arise.
