This Air Jordan 5 Low “Chinese New Year” Features Tear-away Uppers

Jordan Brand returns to the Air Jordan 5 Low for the brand’s upcoming Chinese New Year insertion, delivering one of the most imaginative takes on the silhouette yet. While the entire colorway is fairly simple with a sail, chile red, and opti yellow accents, this sneaker has the capability of taking on an infinite number of new identities thanks to the full wear-away canvas upper. Revealing a patterned layer beneath, the Air Jordan 5 Low CNY can be worn in endless possibilities.

While it’s not quite clear what the pattern looks like, we can make out some of the design by referring to the special shoebox that will package the footwear. But in addition to the wear-away and patterned layer, a number of banner logos are featured on the heel and behind the tongue. On the medial side, through the opaque netting, the word “ACTION” as well as some additional text can be seen.

As you can tell, details of the shoe’s design are scarce, but an official announcement is expected to be made. Currently, a release date of January 23rd, 2021 is noted, so stay tuned for the release and expect the announcement soon.
