Much of the NBA’s growth over the last two decades is due to the globalization of the game. One of the earliest adopters of NBA mania is the Philippines, a country that has purely idolized the sport’s stars and is without question among the most basketball-crazed countries in the world today. Nike’s been observant of the growing passion as they’ve tapped Titan 22 for collaborations and exclusives for years while conducting their own campaigns to increase presence in that region.
In one of the more surprising collaborations of the year, Titan 22 has been given the opportunity to re-interpret the famed Air Jordan XX3. This silhouette has seen the light of day sparingly since its debut in 2008, and any time we see its chiseled and poised figure appear, we’re reminded of the sheer beauty created by Tinker Hatfield. Titan takes a very simple approach, adding their lightning bolt pattern via contrast stitching on the leather upper, golden medallions on the tongue, and customized insoles. They’re leaving several key accents untouched, like the brogue-style perforations on the toe as well as MJ’s fingerprint behind the tongues.
A release date for the Titan 22 x Air Jordan 23 hasn’t been revealed just yet, but with rumors of a late 2020 drop yet to be debunked (and, of course, the surfacing of official images), the official drop may be just around the corner.
Updated December 18th, 2020: The Air Jordan 23 Titan releases on December 23rd at Titan, December 29th at EMEA locations, and January 23rd in North America.
