It’s no secret that the Air Jordan 1 has had one of – if not – the best year among all Jordans, but what’s been somewhat surprising is the attention its mid-top iteration has garnered. Next to make an attempt at diverting attention away from the model’s original height is a Grade School pair with carbon fiber-patterned patent leather.
At quick glance, the forthcoming retro boasts the simple, unassuming “Black/White” colorway that’s graced some of the (now) most beloved Nike Dunk and Jordan 1 options. Yet, closer inspection reveals an experimental detail on an otherwise plain arrangement: Patent leather overlays sit atop a smooth “White” leather base; the aforementioned pattern enters the mix across the profile swooshes, ankle flaps and bottom heel panel. Jumpman logos on the tongue and sockliner also deviate from their standard designs given they’re enclosed within a circle. Underfoot, sole units opt into a tried-and-proven “yin-and-yang” color palette.
