Michael Le Years back, California-based retailer BLENDS teamed up with Vans Vault to craft what was, at the time, one of the most alluring takes on the Sk8-Hi. And though it may seem simple now, the Jazz Stripe turned Bones has followed the brand into many of their subsequent releases, dressing pony hair uppers, Old Skools, and much more to positive reception. Near seven years after its debut, the motif is soon to return back to the Sk8-Hi Zip with some subtle updates.
Even so, the pair is quite the faithful nod to the original, its general aesthetic deceptively similar. Upon closer inspection, however, one will notice the more typical construction, one that places canvas atop the mid-panel and matching black suedes along the overlays both behind and forward. The zipper down the heel and the branded tab below follow suit in the neutral aesthetic, contrasting the leather of the white bone-shaped Jazz Stripe adjacent. What’s more, the tooling also appears a bit taller, the result of its blended in foxing.
