From Margiela to Juun. J, Reebok has integrated well into current popular fashion, allowing many notable designers to dress up their series of inline silhouettes. And in the case of XIMONLEE — whose collaborative capsule is scheduled for release early October — we’re to see the debut of the scuba-inspired DMX Trail Hydrex and two interpretations of the Zig Kinetica Horizon Edge.
An ostensible flip of the once cherished Sock Runner, the DMX Trail Hydrex effectively layers function atop a sleek and relatively straightforward design. Weather resistant fabrications dress the majority of the construction, directly likening the silhouette to scuba boots. Stitches then embellish the bootie further in tonal thread, while brick red overlays and midsoles contrast the rest of the greyscale palette.
The Zig Kinetica Horizon Edge leans much closer to Reebok’s inline ethos as the silhouette’s template is only slightly iterated with XIMONLEE’s input. A simple, stealth-like black colorway shines spotlight on the form itself, allowing the trail-equipped tooling and technical shape to stand on its own. The eponymous label’s namesake is then etched along the profile in white, while the grey alternative prefers to mask the branding in complementing color. The surroundings, which prefer to highlight the layered architecture, then runs replete with both see-through and robust synthetics, all primarily hued in muted cool tones.
