Following their recent collaborative project with Vans, notable retailer Concepts is revisiting their relationship with the folks at Nike SB to add a new Dunk High piece to their ever-growing catalog. Based off of these newly-surfaced images, it appears that they tap into the animalistic realm of the waterfowl family to translate the look of a Mallard Duck.
Elements of the swimming bird’s aesthetic are directly applied to its entire body such as the shimmery green tongues to portray their heads, the amalgamation of furry tan quarter panels, brown suedes that deviate in shading between the toe tips, and rear to represent its body, and the orange outsoles which are symbolic of their waddling webbed feet. If you peak at the tongues, you’ll find that the tongue logos have been playfully remixed to spell out “Nike Duck Pro” to further echo its motif on the outside and come packaged with Concepts branding on the inside. Furthermore, the interior liners have been fully decorated with that of vintage, black and white wallpapers of sketched-out flying duck imagery.
Given that many of the Concepts’ recent collabs such as the New Balance 327 “Cape” and adidas ZX 9000 “Mylar Blanket” have carried along heavy Boston influences, it’s quite possible that these are expressive of that same hometown mentality. There’s a chance that these may pay homage to “Make Way for Ducklings” by Robert McCloskey which just so happens to be the official children’s book of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, but only time will tell if this is completely accurate. In the meantime, check out a first look here below, and stay tuned for word on their official release date.
For other news, the Atlas Nike SB Dunks are dropping this weekend.
