As cancer awareness months approach, footwear from sportswear behemoths has begun appearing in pink-accented arrangements. Case in point: the yet-to-hit-retail Nike LeBron Soldier 14 “Kay Yow”.
An annual release within LeBron James‘ Soldier series, the rose-colored option commemorates Sandra Kay Yow, legendary head coach of the North Carolina State women’s basketball team from 1975 to 2009. Unlike the LeBron Soldier 13‘s cancer awareness-iteration, its successor’s tribute is predominantly clad in black. Woven uppers are complemented with pink: profile Swooshes, spines, heel pull tabs, inner lining, laces and their toggles, tongue branding, and medial heel embroidered ribbons. Underfoot, the upcoming Nike Basketball silhouette further nods to the eight-time “Coach of the Year” semi-translucent finishes of its pink lateral midsole and tread. Elsewhere, Kay Yow’s “When life kicks you, let it kick you forward” quote is printed on the sockliner.
An official Nike.com release date is still unknown, but the LeBron Soldier 14 “Kay Yow” is likely to launch before October ends. For now, enjoy a first-look at the pair here below.
In related news, the Zoom Freak 2 has recently been added to the Nike By You customization platform.
