From Kyoto to Vancouver, Reigning Champ and ASICS are finally set to embark on the final stop in their global tour, bringing along a vast wardrobe of garments and the GEL-Nimbus 22 along with them. Replete of graphic artwork and inspired colorways, the capsule effectively integrates into the city of Paris, something made possible thanks to their guide: the multi-talented street artist/entrepreneur/runner André Saraiva.
Worn by Saraiva himself, the apparel is seen a number of ways — in black and white, color, and the like — as he darts across the Parisian streets to his favorite spots. Lounged across the couch of his personal studio, taking the corner of a relatively sequestered alleyway, or basking in the sun of a summer day, the creative displays the small prints of the Race Singlet as well as the Point Zéro des routes de France inspired motifs that dress the t-shirts and shorts. Hoodies, socks, and more accompany, creating a neutral backdrop on which the collection is partially predicated on.
In slight departure, the GEL-Nimbus 22 appears relatively bereft of the overt pride the aforementioned apparel exhibits. Uppers, which are coated in white and cream across the mesh base and taped overlays, respectively, bear a close resemblance to existing colorways; the laces, however, whose tones swap between red and blue from one foot to the other, make up for where the pair lacks through an homage to the destination’s signature dual-color flag. Reigning Champ and ASICS insignia then finish the branding at the tongue as well as the lace lock and insole, completing what is essential an everyday runner filtered through Paris ethos.
